To prepare chicken:
1 kg chicken breasts cut into squares
2 cups flour
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups American Garden Breadcrumbs
Salt-to-taste
Paprika-to-taste
1 L vegetable oil for frying
To prepare the sauce:
4 tbsp sesame oil
2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
2 tsp garlic, minced
1 ½ cups brown sugar
½ cup fresh orange juice
4 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tbsp American Garden soy sauce
2 cups water
4 tbsp cornstarch
Red hot pepper-to-taste
Green onions to serve
Preparation
- To prepare chicken, sprinkle the cubes with salt and paprika. Dip the chicken in flour, eggs and American Garden breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer and fry the chicken cubes until cooked through and golden brown.
- To prepare sauce, heat oil in saucepan and sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant. Add brown sugar, orange juice, rice vinegar, American Garden soy sauce and ¾ cup water. Leave mixture to boil over low heat for 10 minutes.
- Combine cornstarch with remaining ¼ cup water and mix thoroughly. Pour the mixture gradually over the saucepan stirring frequently until the sauce thickens.
- Add the orange sauce to the chicken, stir and serve immediately, garnished with green onions.
